Josh raises his hand.

“Not even for birthdays?”

“No.”

“Not even during recess?” asks Anne.

“Bring some nice fruit or vegetables,” says Ms. Kim.

Ms. Kim frowns.

“Popcorn is a big fat mouthful of air.

With salt or sugar.

And it makes a mess in the classroom.”

I can feel Bob getting all worked up.

I look at the floor.

There are still a few pieces of popcorn left from yesterday.

Ms. Kim kicks them aside with her shoe.

“It’s true, Ellis. Popcorn is just plain junk!”
